First, I just want to say how honored I am that you would consider becoming one of my regular supporters. I am truly moved to be granted the gift of being listened to and trusted by so many people. I have had the profound privilege to speak about faith and sexuality, I have led young adult and deacon ministries, I’ve written articles, blog posts and created videos on a wide variety of topics. All of this has led me to where I am today, pursuing a Master of Divinity with a concentration in Social Transformation in order to prepare for full-time ministry.

Thank you for considering becoming one of my regular supporters. Here’s a little about what your support will make possible.

I am passionate about many issues, but they mostly revolve around my core values of Authenticity, Love and Justice. I will be creating regular articles and videos on a variety of topics related to those core values. Here are some more specific areas of interest to me right now:

  • Having been raised in fundamentalist evangelical home, I am fluent in all things fundamentalist and am committed to end the grip of terror and fear that fundamentalism has on its followers. To do this, I elevate the priority of Love and use methods found in New Thought Christianity to re-imagine fundamentalist ideas in way that people with conservative viewpoints can support.
  • I am deeply committed to the work of anti-racism on the personal, group, and systemic level. I wholeheartedly support Black Lives Matter and am part of a clergy group working to support their work and initiate anti-racism work in faith communities.
  • I am queer and am committed to the full liberation of queer people here and around the world, especially in matters of economic justice, equal protection under the law, and full celebration in faith and spirituality.
  • I am a feminist/womanist and am committed to elevating the voices and leadership of women, especially women of color, in faith communities.

I feel strongly that I am to begin speaking, writing, and creating more intentionally now instead of waiting until I’m through with school. I’m reminded by people all the time that my perspective is powerful, moving and makes a difference. Your partnership with me will continue to free me up to focus more on doing this work, moving through the growing pains and opportunities for development I will have, and to continuing to prepare for a lifetime of ministry.

Also, if you are an MCC member, your support could function like a small personal scholarship. Unlike other denominations, Metropolitan Community Churches isn’t able to offer financial aid to their seminary students. Your support, your prayers, and your guidance mean everything to me.

Together, we are creating a world where Love Wins.

Much love,
Nathan Michael Black
